Bucculatricidae, larva in gall - Bucculatrix simulans

Bucculatricidae, larva in gall - Bucculatrix simulans
Doolittle Prairie, Story County, Iowa, USA
December 5, 2020
November 27, 2020: Jimmie Thompson collected various stems and stem galls including galls on Sawtooth sunflower, Helianthus grosseserratus.
Since some galls had holes, I cut them open as well as the stems.
This was a round gall with a small hole, live larva inside, photographed, taped the gall back together.

December 5, 2020: cut open the stem to Tree cricket eggs and this egg
