They remind me of katydid eggs
e.g.

Don't take that for a firm ID though. Just a guess.

 
And if we understand Nancy correctly,
the baby Katydids have already left the egg and molted, leaving behind their first exoskeleton. At least we're guessing that's what's hanging from the open eggs! See
