Possibly Polites themistocles (Tawny-edged Skipper) or P. origenes (Crossline Skipper)? Unfortunately I was unable to get a dorsal shot of any kind, which I realize may limit the possibility of a specific ID, but thought I'd show it to the experts.

NJ Skipper - Moved
I looked at the other suspects and I think you narrowed this down to the correct two. I even suspected Eufala, but that would be stretching the range.

I made a copy and imported it into Photoshop and played with the highlights and contrast in order to see the pm spot band a little better. And actually, if one just looks at this original image from a distance from the screen at direct eye level, one can see the spot band fairly well.

On this specimen it was more curved and shaped more like Tawny-edged. (The typical Tawny-edged does not have pm spots, but many do, and there are many Tawny-edged.)

Moved from ID Request.

Thank you
Wonderful, thank you! Tawny-edged, while not being overly common, are found here far more frequently than Crossline.
