Difference Between The Sexes Of Spicebush Swallowtails - Papilio troilus - male - female

Difference Between The Sexes Of Spicebush Swallowtails - Papilio troilus - Male Female
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
August 3, 2007
Here is the chief difference between a male, left, and a female Spicebush Swallowtail. On the males, there is a band of light coloring in the median area of the hindwing that is not present on the female.

The male was photographed on August 11th, 2007, and the female on August 3rd, 2007.
