Thanks Frans!

BTW, I just learned about the existence of a mammoth reference for North American springtails which I am sure you know about, "The Collembola of North America, north of the Rio Grande : a taxonomic analysis, by Kenneth Christiansen and Peter Bellinger". But it doesn't seem to be available anywhere, either for free or to purchase... Is there any way for folks to get a copy?

Indeed this...
is the standard ref work for nearctic Collembola.
I got my copy from Grinnell College in Iowa :
https://www.grinnell.edu/
I lost my way in that website...
Possibly you can contact alumni@grinnell.edu and ask them about that publication of Ken Christiansen who was a prof at the college.

Grinnell -
can't help unfortunately - I contacted their library and they responded: " I’m afraid that we do not currently have any copies of Ken’s book that we are able to sell to you, nor has it been digitized. If you are looking for a copy for short-term use, you might have some luck with interlibrary loan. To my knowledge, the copyright for Ken’s work resides with his estate, so if you are interested in making copies for yourself, you may also try contacting them for permission".

This is really too bad - seems like a very important reference for this group.

Isotoma delta
Quite right.
