This subject was found attached by an anal pedicel to the thorax of a beetle (
Corticeus praetermissus) that came to a
mercury vapor lamp set-up at
35°48'49.0"N 106°40'58.0"W, 7339 ft elevation,
Jemez Springs 7.5' quadrangle, near a cabin on Spruce Loop, Sandoval Co., NM. Many other
images from this event are posted.
The mite is still attached to the host in this dorsal view, with both being desiccated and air mounted.
