Note*ridae? (another try) - Hydrocanthus iricolor

Note*ridae? (another try) - Hydrocanthus iricolor
Hollis, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
June 10, 2008
Size: about 5 mm
This water beetle has no visible scutellum but I am unsure whether the ever-so-slightly curving spurs on the tibiae are what to look for in Noter*idae. This beetle flew to MV light setup I placed, with generator, at the side of a slow, marshy stream on a hot, humid night.

Moved
Moved from Hydrocanthus. This is the only noterid species on Don Chandler's checklist for New Hampshire. I think I like Tom's recent images of this species better :-)

you got it!
checking AmBeetles, this one would appear to be from Hydrocanthus based on large size and very wide prosternal process at apex.

congrats on the new family for you :)

Hooray!
Thanks for the help and guidance, Tim.
