Potentially a new state record for Arkansas.
Gordon, before I add it to the
Registry of Nearctic Geadephaga
, please tell us how confident you are in your species determination? The description of the pronotum by Curt Harden for another post appears to be a good match. Sphaeroderus indianae is known in the adjacent states MS and TN. Your record is from northeastern AR, close to the border with TN, and so it would become the new westernmost state. Thanks.

Peter, The Id was provided by
Peter, The Id was provided by Curt Harden over on Inaturalist. I am more an ant guy so must rely on others when it comes to these things. I have offered to send the specimen to him.

Great.
My friendly suggestion here at BugGuide is to acknowledge people who provided determinations. I will post this new AR record on the caraboid registry. Thanks.
