Damselfly - Enallagma traviatum - female

Damselfly - Enallagma traviatum - Female
Adams County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 24, 2008
I'm stumped on this damsel. Any one have a suggestion?

Thanks.

Looks to us to be
female, Enallagma traviatum, but we have never seen this species and the only image in the guide shows the underside

Wait to see if an Odonate expert chimes in. If we're right this will be a great addition to the guide. (And even if we're wrong it will be!!)

Thanks again....
for your help, J & J. I've added a photo of a male Slender Bluet to the page. You may want to check it to confirm it's ID.

It does......
look a lot like E. traviatum. I think I was paying too much attention to the mark on dorsal S2. Hope someone confirms your ID.

Thanks for your reply.

I agree - E. traviatum
You can see part of the black "T" on the top of segment 8, plus the large eyespots and the blue markings on the side of the prothorax. The only other species in Lam where the females have s8-10 blue are Attenuated and Pale Bluets, which are out of range and look like they'd appear much more slender than this one (I haven't seen either of those species before).

Thanks Andy
I feel pretty confident with that ID.

I'll move to proper page.

OOPS
Looks like it has already been moved.

I also added a photo of a male Slender Bluet to the pages. You may want to confirm it's ID.
