Size: ~4mm
Saw this guy on Argyranthemum frutescens in our garden. (live oak, chaparral habitat).

Male Ceratina?
Looks like it might be a male small carpenter bee, but I'm not positive. California has such a diverse bee fauna it could well be something I've never seen before:-) Do wait for comment from Dr. Ascher once he returns from Honduras.
