Straight-lined Plagodis - Plagodis phlogosaria - Male
Apple River , cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada

Came to outside light . Jim Edsall & Christopher Majka I.D. it .

Moved
Moved from Butterflies and Moths. Also note the thick, dark AM line and dark shading of the basal area. None of the other Plagodis species appear to exhibit both of these features.

Male
I think that the burnt-coloration of the scales near the inner portion of the ST area, (slightly worn) indicates that this is most likely a male Plagodis phlogosaria. Let's double-check it.
Another thing to consider is the distance between the position of the PM line along the costal edge and the apex of the wing. Notice that it is usually shorter in Plagodis alcoolaria.
