cellophane bee -
Halictus rubicundus
Decorah Prairie, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
August 4, 2020
Size: ~10 mm
I'm not sure if this cellophane bee can be identified to species or not. Most of my cellophane bee finds are just Colletes.

Halictus rubicundus
Thanks so much for identifying this bee as Halictus rubicundus, John! I can't believe I couldn't figure this one out on my own, but in the past Halictus has not been the first bee genus to pop into my mind when seeing those distinct white abdominal bands. I hope to remember what H. rubicundus looks like from now on.
