Revision of European species in the genus has found that R. viridis has been a misapplied name. True R. viridis is a rare European species and certainly is not the correct identity of specimens in the Nearctic. Under the current revision, the common European species is instead R. scalaris.(2)

*** Many to most online records even within the correct range are misidentified as a result of this confusion of names in the literature.***
