Thanks so much for nailing down the identity of this little moth as being Mompha terminella, Aaron! Yes, I was amazed to see several similar moths with nearly identical color patterns to my untrained eye as I checked BugGuide for possible matches. It's nice to see Iowa is now added on BugGuide's Mompha terminella distribution map.

Thanks for taking a look at this moth and comparing it with Mompha terminella. They do look like a possible match, for sure. I'm not expert enough to determine if my moth is M. terminella though, especially since that species has not been reported to BugGuide from Iowa before.
