Could you add the other?
I don't recognize this at all

Fruitless search here...
I am subscribed to this because after a pretty thorough search of BG and MPG last year, I too came up empty. Searched again today with the same result. I was at Bear Island last year for several day periods in the months of December, January and April and did not find this. Looks like I may need to make a February/March trip there.

Looks like...
I'm sorry that I know very little about these critters! Why do they call it Bear Island? It's a bear, to identify the weird moths there...
(maybe) Leptosteges sordidalis: It seems that they come in a few different shades of color. On MPG, it says this: "The identity of pale-winged "morphs" is unsettled." The BOLD images show the same color variations anyway.

Neat
I knew the pale morph but had realized these are typically dark! There are no public barcodes for either morph.

Bear Island
Bob: I think it is because this is a high ground area with swamp all around it and the bears hid out/lived there long ago. Going back there in a few weeks. Have to bring in your own water.

panthers too!
Panthers are known to roam the area but I have yet to see one.

We were hoping you would post an image of the tan colored version of this moth to this species page.

Good sleuthing Bob!
You would have thought I would have remembered that distinctive PM line. We need to get Steve Nanz to post this on MPG so it will be easier to find in the future. Not sure why I did not include this species on the list I sent to him a little while back.
