Pelonides quadripunctata

Pelonides quadripunctata
Sandhills Gamelands, Moore County, North Carolina, USA
April 7, 2021
Size: 6 mm
Size estimated. This was feeding on Coastal Plain Serviceberry, Amelanchier obovalis. Few Southeastern records on BugGuide to date. This is the second record from North Carolina. It seems the species should be expected in Georgia and South Carolina as well, and perhaps Florida. The published references on range do not show it present in the mid-Atlantic states.
This one was deep within the flowers, and only the tip of its abdomen was visible most of the time. It might be rather hard to spot.
