Black and gold weevil on thistle - Larinus carlinae
Alder Lake - trailer parking lot, Pierce County, Washington, USA
June 29, 2008
Snout beetle found on slender flower thistle.

For those of you paying attention, Alder Lake is in 3 different counties. We camped in Thurston County off in the boonies (boat access only) and the Pierce County images were taken at the campground.

Are you sure it isn't Rhinocy
Are you sure it isn't Rhinocylus conicus? Its being used as a biological control for a number of thistle species in the western USA. I'm not saying that is what your's is. Your's does look a little squatter than Rhinocylus.
