ground beetle? - Melandrya striata

ground beetle? - Melandrya striata
Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 7, 2005
Size: 9mm

Not sure.
This actually reminds me a little of one of the aquatic beetles like Amphizoidae. There are several families of aquatic beetles in which the adults are not adapted to life in the water.

Melandrya striata?
Looks like Melandrya striata in the family Melandryidae.

Thanks Frank
It looks like the image on Cedar Creek, and the one in the Peterson Beetle guide (1).
