Dung Beetle

Dung Beetle
Dixon Springs, Macon County, Tennessee, USA
June 30, 2008
Size: Approx. 2.1cm
This large beetle bumbled into my storm door screen around 10:30pm June 30, 2008. I was able to catch it before it could fly away and then I took 4 photos before releasing it. It never attempted to fly once captured. I apologize for having to tape its hind-leg down to keep it still long enough to get a good pic. Earlier the same day, I found a large hole burrowed in my yard approx 12-14in. deep and I now believe it is likely the home of this large beetle. I know little about this beetle, so any info is greatly appreciated!
