Mallodon
M. dasystomus dasystomus (Say)

Prioninae.
This is either a species of Mallodon, or Archodontes. Hopefully one of the great coleopterists here will give us an unqualified answer:-)

Mike, Eric...
Thanks for the ID!

Nice!
Awesome pics!

Are you taking some of your latest pics with the 65mm lens ?

Thanks Sam!
The first two images were taken with my old 105mm f/2.5 Vivitar Series 1 Macro lens. The head shots were taken with the MP-E65mm Macro lens. I love the MP-E so much that I just ordered the Canon 40D body to use with it :^) Just about all of my macro shots since May 18, 2008 were taken with the 65.

You got to get one....fantastic for the little critters, but takes some time and patience to learn to use.

I've been admiring your macros,
especially the lates ones!

Thanks Margarethe!
I still have a lot to learn though :^)

....
I know, I'm working on getting one but Canon is definitely proud of them. I've looked on eBay with no luck.
With gas prices, and everything else, so astronomical money is getting thin.
