EspaƱola, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, USA

Size: Medium wasp
Another one that landed from the same swarm as https://bugguide.net/node/view/1963275

Riparian woods near but not next to the Rio Grande.

Sorry about the bad picture. It may not be useful.

Moved
Moved from Ants, Bees, Wasps and Sawflies.

Not really a swarm (as these are solitary-nesting, not social, wasps) but instead an aggregation of males. Loose aggregations are often formed for overnighting, though tighter, more "scrambled" mating aggregations are also formed.

Thanks
for the ID and the comment on behavior. After seeing you other ID, I'd been wondering what these solitary wasps were doing all together.
