I watched this shiny hymenopteran going in and out of this approx. 1.5 inch wide hole in a rock about 6 inches from the ground. It had two black dots on the abdomen, a black posterior, and red legs. This image is captured from a video I took. It was a warm afternoon in Colorado National Monument, at about 6,300 ft. (semi-desert).
