It's a mite that's missing a leg on its left side. I guess it didn't slow it down much though. I see these running around quite a bit when the humidity is high. Red spider mite is the name that comes to mind.

I would say this is a mite. Do you have any views looking down from directly above, a dorsal view in other words?
