Longhorned Beetle - Aegomorphus modestus

Longhorned Beetle - Aegomorphus modestus
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
June 9, 2005
Size: 13 mm
Looks like Urographis fasciatus from the guide pages, but I can't tell if that one has the points coming off of the pronotum like this one.

another Aegomorphus?
please see the discussion re Urographis sp.? from New England ( photo # 23577). Basically the same issues here. The shorter antennae, more robust body, larger pronotal spines, and markings seem to indicate Aegomorphus modestus. The head in this picture is pointing staight down so you can't see the the very broad face above the labrum. I have found this beetle to be common in Maine, Maryland, and West Virginia. I think it should also be in North Carolina.

oops
Sorry, I meant photo # 23557.
