early-season fly with projecting white face - Eutrichota incompleta

early-season fly with projecting white face - Eutrichota incompleta
Lake Meyer Park, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
April 19, 2020
Size: ~7 mm
My guess is that this is a root-maggot fly in the genus Leucophora. I have a fly in my photo files with that same projecting white face that was identified as Leucophora from April 2019. With my very limited knowledge of fly ID, I may be wrong though.

Eutrichota incompleta
Thanks so much for determining that this root-maggot fly is Eutrichota incompleta, John! I can't believe that I didn't see the connection to another example of E. incompleta that I found here at Lake Meyer Park earlier in April.

Thanks for determining that this is a root-maggot fly, John. I was hoping its distinctive projecting face was unique to Leucophora but evidently not.
