Skipper? - Vernia verna - male

Skipper? - Vernia verna - Male
Bullitt County, Kentucky, USA
May 19, 2021
Spotted skipper with wings partially open at rest. Looks like a lower case "i" on the wing below the two dots at the wing tips. Flecks of gold, a tawny fringed edge and patches of purple are also evident. The yellow and black ringed antennae with a dark curved tip is also distinctive.

I checked the male box.

For identification, the important field mark is the long transverse mark along the stigma with the smaller mark at the end of the stigma, sometimes referred to as a "keyhole". Often this species shows a good bit of white on the antennae below the clubs. (Your specimen lacks this.)

Thanks for the ID and details
I had about given up posting skipper pictures because I find them very difficult. I appreciate your taking time to explain the key features in your identifying the specimen. All I knew was that it looked a little "different"!
