Yellow stonefly - Perlesta - female

Yellow stonefly - Perlesta - Female
Matamoras, Pennsylvania, USA
June 28, 2008
Size: ~14 mm, including wings
Found many of these on a flag pole, attracted by the lights.

Moved
Moved from Common Stoneflies.

Best placement...
is probably Perlesta. This one might be P. decipiens, but Dr. Kondratieff has advised against trying to do a species ID on Perlesta. There are many look-alike species in this genus and more species are being discovered all the time. (See Don Chandler's Perlesta n. sp. here.)

Probably...
a small perlid. The perlodid stoneflies look very similar as adults, but the collection date seems to suggest that this is probably a little perlid.
