This is a male Swamp Darner, Epiaeschna heros.

Moved from Dragonflies.

Reminds me of a Swamp Darner,
Epiaeschna heros, which would be that large. But the dragonfly is too silhouetted in the photo to make out the colors on the thorax and abdomen, so I'm not sure. There are many, many possibilities in Texas.
