Cuerna striata

Cuerna striata
Fairbanks, Tanana Lakes, Fairbanks North Star County, Alaska, USA
May 24, 2021
Pretty certain this is Cuerna striata, but what are the white marks? Did it just rub against something, coincidentally getting transfer symmetrically on both wings? Or is there something else going on. Thanks for any insights...

Moved from ID Request.

The white marks are brochosomes, which can be associated with egg laying.
