Amara sp.
Tom, I am tentatively assigning two such specimens from your same collection event to my morphotype "Amara sp. C of AZ". I am not aware of any recently published taxonomic key that adequately separates the Amara species of southwestern USA. However, all known southwestern Amara species are conveniently listed in a catalogue by Bousquet & Larochelle (1993). That reference provides the starting point to search the literature (obscure & scattered) for the original species descriptions. I'm afraid that such a project will have to wait its turn.

Moved from Ground Beetles.
