Nomius pygmaeus -- 'the stink beetle'
pretty rare Holarctic carabid seen here -- and apparently new to BugGuide, too.

I agree rare and previously unreported for Saskatchewan!
Nomius pygmaeus is already known from adjacent Alberta, Manitoba, and Montana so this one is not unexpected. Is there a way I can get this important specimen for my North American carabid reference collection? Don't have one. Thanks! Yves Bousquet will be notified about this record for his forthcoming revised catalogue on North American Carabidae. I created the necessary guide pages. I followed American Beetles 2001 in placing Psydrini within subfamily Trechinae, but more recently Wolfgang Lorenz (2005) placed the tribe in subfamily Psydrinae.

reference collection
New to Saskatchewan - that's very cool. I still have the specimen and if you email me, we can figure out how to get it to you.

My private email to you bounced back to me.
Based on your rather cryptic e-mail directive "harvey at gmail dot com" I translated to presumed authentic email harvey@gmail.com. Why must this be so hard? Alternatively, just email to me a quick "hello" so I learn your real e-mail address. Sorry for the trouble.

Opps
I left part of my address out. I just corrected it, so it should work now. I can't find your email address?

cryptic emails
Just re-mailed my message to your corrected address. Thanks. To get to my "crytic" email and profile, you must hit BugGuide's Peter Messer link, therein Directory link, therein search for member "Messer". All these bothers just to preserve security!
