Ant QQQ - Prenolepis imparis - female

Ant QQQ - Prenolepis imparis - Female
Dewitt, Clinton County, Michigan, USA
May 30, 2021
Scientific Name ?

Very small ant. 5 segments to body?

Moved
This ant is just shy of 3 mm. long
All insects have more than five anatomical segments (18-ish, the first 6-7 fused inseparably and forming the head), but these are grouped together in specialized regions called the head, thorax and abdomen. In ants the first few abdomen segments are constricted and modified in shape giving the appearance of those five "segments" you mentioned.
