It looks like the moth is laying eggs on the stem

actually...
I think you can see her eggs, if you look at the stem, on the right side, there are iridescent round objects, which I will guess are her eggs now on the plant. She's holding a body position that looks like you've captured her in the midst of "ovipositing".
