Horseshoe Bend, Boise County, Idaho, USA
April 4, 2021
On foliage at forest edge. Initially observed hovering with noticeable white abdomen "flashing". Voucher specimen placed in Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History at The College of Idaho, Caldwell, ID.

Please be sure to crop your pics....
...as close to "just the bug" as possible. Only you and the editors/experts have the ability to click on the image and see the full size version. Everyone else is stuck looking at a tiny fly in a lot of unnecessary background. :)

You can click on "edit" and simply upload a cropped version. It will replace the current image.
