Size: ~30mm
There were several of these winged males running through the leaf litter along the river. Looks somewhat similar to
this guy

Definitely Dasymutilla
It is either D. magnifica or D. nogalensis. If the specimen is pretty large then it is probably D. magnifica, and if it is relatively puny then the species is D. nogalensis.

D. magnifica
looks like
the best bet
. They averaged around 30mm in length. Thanks Kevin.
