Dasymutilla - Dasymutilla magnifica - male

Dasymutilla - Dasymutilla magnifica - Male
Dudleyville, San Pedro River, Pinal County, Arizona, USA
June 29, 2008
Size: ~30mm
There were several of these winged males running through the leaf litter along the river. Looks somewhat similar to this guy.

Moved
Moved from Dasymutilla.

Definitely Dasymutilla
It is either D. magnifica or D. nogalensis. If the specimen is pretty large then it is probably D. magnifica, and if it is relatively puny then the species is D. nogalensis.

D. magnifica
looks like the best bet. They averaged around 30mm in length. Thanks Kevin.
