Size: 3 inches long, 3/4" wide
Was walking on the ground. Possibly small wings. Maybe will become a butterfly or moth?

Looks like...
It's a Sphinx Moth that just emerged from the pupa. (Adult) Did you get any shots of it after it stretched out?
