Twicestabbed Ladybird Beetle
This would appear to be the same twicestabbed ladybug (Chilocorus stigma) that I see on occasion in north central Texas.

Sorry. I didn't look at your first photo or I wouldn't have commented. On an offhand note, I have seen the ashy gray every once in a while in the same general location where the twicestabbed beetle has been observed.
