Cicada - Magicicada septendecim

Cicada - Magicicada septendecim
Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA
June 11, 2021
Cicada resting on leaf.Body length approx 2.5 cm. Looks identical to periodical cicada we saw in Massachusetts in 2008, but no brood here this year (and none this far north in Massachusetts even in 2008). Different from other cicadas I have seen in this area. Species ID? Thanks.

Moved
definitely M. septendecim. Unless it was accidentally brought up from the Brood X emergence area like around Maryland or DC, it is probably a 'straggler', more info here https://cicadas.uconn.edu/stragglers/

Moved from ID Request.

17 year cicada
Thank you for confirming the ID: and thank you for reference re stragglers.

Sure does look like M. septendecim. Hopefully an expert can weigh in.

Thanks, I am totally puzzled.
Thanks, I am totally puzzled. As I said, other cicadas I have seen here are different, and this looks exactly like the ones from 2008 brood.
