Species Cryptocephalus guttulatus - Fourteen-spotted Leaf Beetle - Cryptocephalus guttulatus

Species Cryptocephalus guttulatus - Fourteen-spotted Leaf Beetle - Cryptocephalus guttulatus
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
June 4, 2015
Size: tiny
I just happened to be sitting next to a crepe myrtle bush b/c of all the insects that show up and this tiny insect landed on a leaf, that I'd never seen before, and I got a great macro shot of it. It has been identified as a "14 spotted leaf beetle" but I have counted 16 spots on this little insect. I used a macro lens to get this shot in Tallahassee, FL. It has a black body with white spots and an orange color of head and legs.

Thanks.
Thanks.

If you look closely you will
If you look closely you will also see grooves and indentations through out the body of the insect though the head was very shiny and smooth.
