Hoppers and ants on Helianthus - Myrmica

Hoppers and ants on Helianthus - Myrmica
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
July 6, 2008
Size: 4mm (each) approx
I came across this scene on (I believe) Helianthus, or a near relative. The nymph appears to be Campylenchia, but the adult does not fit there - what is it? Anyone know enough to ID the ants?

I wonder if it's commnon for ant farmers to diversify their herds? On the same day I found three hopper spp. (I think) being tended by ants on goldenrod.

Moved
Moved from Treehoppers.

Thanks for the ID, Richard.

Ants are workers of genus Myrmica (Myrmicinae).
Thw magnification barely allows a more precise ID, but this is bviously a close relative of the introduced M. rubra.
