Moth ID - Melanolophia signataria

Moth ID - Melanolophia signataria
Barboursville, Cabell County, West Virginia, USA
April 25, 2008
I believe this might be a lighter version of a moth I posted earlier, which I thought was a Tulip-tree Beauty Moth. Still, I'm unsure of the id.

Moved from Melanolophia.

Melanolophia signataria
Bob Patterson also emailed me on this one, thinking it might be a Melanolophia signataria.

Hi Rennie -
thanks for this nice image! I'm not a moth expert - could you please clarify whether Bob Patterson thinks this could at least be placed in the Melanolophia genus, or is he confident of the species ID? Thanks!

I believe you could place it there.
He seemed pretty confident. I looked at it and I'm sure that he is right.

OK -
will place it to genus level for now. Feel free to tag and move it to species level if you are confident. Thanks for the info!
