Numbers

There are 3 species in North America that have been formally described but there are a couple on BugGuide that are awaiting formal description.

Identification

The most common member of this genus in BugGuide's range is M. inclemens which has a light morph and dark morph in the males (Its common name is Dimorphic Jumper).


Identification of the other two described North American species (M. expansa and M. intermedia) should be made with caution.

The two undescribed species have males with yellow on the anterior of the carapace. In the Guide, they are assigned to "Species a" and "Species b" based on their distribution. Much is unknown about these species at this time. (Dec 2022)
