Acrocera? - Acrocera

Acrocera? - Acrocera
Hollis, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
June 26, 2021
Size: app. 3 mm
This small acrocerid was seen hovering above and finally landed on the trunk of a small, dead tree in a pocket of trees bordering an unmanaged field. The abdomen, while not really visible here so well, did not show the banding one associates with Ogcodes, so my leading guess is that this individual belonged to a species of Acrocera.

Similar...
While not as seemingly hirsute or the legs as yellow, this photo shows a similar looking fly and is part of why I wonder if what I found was a member of the genus Acrocera. It's a shame I didn't collect it as a specimen.
