Araneus bicentenarius - female

Araneus bicentenarius - Female
Rideout Road Trailhead, Hollis, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
June 30, 2021
Size: 2 cm
While hiking, I saw a startlingly large pompilid wasp circling and investigating a patch of lowbush blueberries, Vaccinium angustifolium.

Further inspection revealed the paralyzed body of a very large orb weaver caught in the branches of plant. Unfortunately my careless intrusion frightened off the wasp, but I have also never seen an orb weaver this size here before.
