Two days does seem like a long time
to shed the larval skin, but our experience is mostly with Monarchs, so Admirals could be different

Cocoon
I photographed it two days in a row as it was on a tree next to where we camped. It hadn't seemed to have changed, so I wonder if it died in the process?

Given the location
we would suspect this is Limenitis weidemeyerii - Weidemeyer's Admiral, but you'll need someone more knowledgeable than us to confirm that, sorry

Cocoon
Thanks for taking this to Genus! Pam

Caterpillar just beginning to pupate
genus Limenitis
