chrysalis on peas

chrysalis on peas
Millcreek Twp, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 4, 2021
Size: 7/8th inch
Found this on a pea plant in the garden. Also found an empty one. The only caterpillars I've seen on the plants are Virginia Tiger Moths. The colors in this image are a little dark, but I imagine the patterns would be diagnostic. If not, I can try to get better pictures. It's viable and wiggly; I've brought it inside and will rear it.

It does seem to have a silk band over the middle holding it on the branch, I've seen that in swallowtails and pierids.

Yep, I can confirm it has a silk belt, although it doesn't show up in the pics very well.

We don't have any images on BugGuide of the pupa, but you can see some images here
Still doesn't seem quite right, but it must be close...
Looking forward to your images of the adult when it emerges.

Well that's exciting! I'm posting one more picture that gives a slightly better view of the bottom of the case. I can't get a really good picture for some reason. But I feel like it comes to a more dramatic point than the Carolina Satyr in that link...?
