Fly 01 - Liohippelates pusio

Fly 01 - Liohippelates pusio
Kenner, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA
July 8, 2008
More images of a fly "blowing bubbles" or "bubbling". A few of the theories: 1)cooling off 2)warming up 3)digestive aid.

In the first two images, you can see (using Photoshop and layers) the "bubble" getting bigger and the abdomen getting smaller.

In the third image you see a air bubble inside the abdomen behind the hind leg.

The fourth images is a dorsal view to aid in identifying this fly.
