Unusual Katydid
Can anyone help me with a specific or generic identification. I've not been successful on my own.

it is a nymph in the conocephalini
either genus Orchelimum or Conocephalus. Unfortunately these very young nymphs nearly all look identical, so you'd have to rear it to know for sure (or return later in summer and see what adults are out in the same area). In NH there aren't too many options and I would guess Conocephalus fasciatus or brevipennis for this little one. Habitat is also a clue - some species prefer sedge marshes and others specialize in dry sandy areas with bunchgrasses (but there are a few generalist species that might be found in any open habitat too)

Unusual Katydid
I wondered if it might be a young nymph . . . so THANKS for your explanation. Very Helpful.
