A New Member

Hello! I've been using this site as a guide to identify my subjects for some time now and thought perhaps I could offer something back. I am an amateur photographer and specialize primarily in photomacrography.

Here are a few examples:

I admit that while my style is not always ideal for identification purposes, there are many more on my photography website: bugography.com and I have thousands of other images on storage drives.

So, if I can help, let me know and I'll see what I can find.

.

Do most members.....?
Do most members or viewers care about the photographic details of the images? (i.e. equipment used, shutter speed, aperture, etc)

Many are, some are not
The question is whether or not you are interested. If it interests you, then post it and you may get the rest of us excited about it!

....
A little unlike us not to have asked you already but you did post the equipment information on your profile page which is the best place for it. There is a section (http://bugguide.net/node/view/86949/bgimage) where you can share your equipment set-up. Any software manipulation or stacking software & gear would be important to mention. Other than that, someone may inquire about the settings of a particular image but feel free to express yourself within the BugGuide guidelines & protocol as you see fit.

P. S. Hmmmm, my link doesn't seem to work....
P. P. S.: here's a map: Home » Guide » Arthropods (Arthropoda) » Equipment, set-ups and techniques » Set-ups for Photography

Empty?
That setup section seems empty?

I'm off on a two week photo trip to the parks of Southern Ontario so perhaps I'll take a bit of time and better photograph my equipment and how I use it.

awesome pictures!

I love your photos.
I love your photos.

I'm glad everyone likes them!
I'm glad everyone likes them! I spend my weekends all summer searching out these little creatures snapping off hundreds of pics per day.

Is that then all I should do to submit images then? Just post to ID Request?

I take it the max size is 536 pixels. Too bad - you really lose detail scaling down that much.

560 pixels
is the max for contributors to view, but editors can view larger if the image wasn't cropped to 560 or under.

You can also post images right to certain sections of the guide. If you know the bug is a robberfly for example (but no ID past that level) you can post directly to this page. Most editors view new images from the "Recent" tab so they'll see it posted there just the same as if it were posted to ID Request. Whichever way you prefer is fine.

Beautiful shots!
I really like the jumping spider and the caterpillar. Please consider reposting all these in ID Request.

Great images!
The sawfly "condominium" takes the cake. It reminds me of a painting of many windows with different scenes in each.
Other than that, you ought to submit your images to the guide rather than the forum as others told you already. Welcome to Bugguide.

duplicate.

Ditto!
I love the sawflies and the caterpillar face close-up!

Nice!
Awesome pics!
I really like the leaf cutter maze photo!

Gorgeous! But unavailable to BugGuide
in this format. The only way images can be used in the guide to help educate or identify species is if they are posted to ID Request (or deeper in the guide). Here they are only available to those who happen to open your message. Don't know how many of these are identifiable to species, but would bet many are, especially if there are also images from farther away to go along wiyh them. Beautiful work - would certainly help folks fall in love with bugs!
