European Hornet? - Vespa crabro

European Hornet? - Vespa crabro
Winder, Barrow County, Georgia, USA
July 7, 2021
Hello! I’m eager to start a bug collection and would like to start with this specimen. I believe it’s a European Hornet, but I just want to make sure I’m getting my collection started on the right foot with a proper ID. Thanks!

Background:
I work in pest control and actually found this vespid today in a glue trap on the floor of a customer’s garage. I’m not sure how long it was on the glue board (we check and replace them every 3 months) but I know it will probably need some time in a relaxing chamber before pinning. It also picked up a good bit of fine dust and debris on the board so I was wondering if there are any good methods out there for cleaning an insect before pinning?

Tiny Disclaimer
This is my first post here, so please don’t hesitate to let me know if I’ve done anything wrong. I’m not sure if I need to split the ID request and possible collection help into two posts or not.

ID is correct, but...
...the sighting date is missing.
